Our Skaters' Definition of
Sportsmanship
The following is a sportsmanship agreement developed by Iceworld skaters.
The following are applicable to skaters, coaches, and parents.
Good Sportsmanship means…

Supporting other
competitors
-
Being positive towards
others
-
Congratulating other
skaters on their effort and their placings (eg. applauding, saying
“well done!”,
shaking hands)

Being happy with our best
-
Learning to deal with our
own emotions - being gracious when we perform well, and staying
calm when we perform poorly

Working well with other
skaters at training
-
Thanking our parents and
coaches
Bad Sportsmanship means…
-
Saying mean things to
other competitors
-
Trying to intimidate
competitors
-
Yelling or swearing at
anyone
-
Being inconsiderate or
rude to other people
-
Coaches or parents
yelling at skaters or their competitors
-
Parents putting too much pressure on skaters
-
Breaking the rules of a competition
